Sally Orange Takes Part in the New York City SEAL Swim.

Sally Orange MBE, a veteran, adventure athlete, and award-winning mental health speaker travelled across the pond this summer, to take part in the New York City SEAL Swim. Sally participated in the event to fundraise for Walking With The Wounded, to support fellow veterans and their families.

In her post on LinkedIn, Sally writes: ‘real honour to have been invited to take on the epic Navy SEAL Foundation New York Swim. A truly epic event in an iconic location with a distinct purpose of remembering those lives taken on September 11th, 2001, and also raising awareness of the 22 veterans a day that tragically take their own lives in the United States. The event involved 3 miles of running, 3 1/2 miles of swimming, 300 press ups and 66 pull ups, with powerful speeches from Navy SEALS, first responders and 9/11 survivors thrown in to raise it to another level.

Hearing the National anthem at the start and finish, seeing the crowds of supporters lining the streets and swimming past the Statue of Liberty all added to an unforgettable experience.

Fantastic to be representing Walking With The Wounded and an honour to be sharing the experience alongside Team Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. members, former Navy SEAL Shane (Mac) McKenzie, SOF, Dssm, Brett Kobell and Brad Lull, who were the main sponsors of the event.

It’s thanks to supporters such as Sunbelt that allow veterans like myself feel a true sense of purpose again by using adventure therapy to assist with the management of mental illness’
